Corona vaccine to be introduced after successful trials: Punjab minister

National January 19, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said the Punjab government shall introduce vaccine after successful trials. “The trials are being conducted as per international protocols. Only after successful trials, the true assessment can be made about the efficacy of the vaccine. The side-effects of the Corona vaccine are being reviewed,” she said while addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister Secretariat here on Monday. The health minister said that all vaccine manufacturers were in contact with the federal government. However, an apex Vaccine Management Committee, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, has been constituted whose members include Chief Secretary Punjab, IG Punjab, representative of Punjab Healthcare Commission and the Health Minister herself. Committees have been constituted at district level, she said.

She issued this order while addressing a meeting at the Specialised Healthcare Medical Education Department here Wednesday. Special Secretary Development Iqbal Hussain Khan, Additional Secretary Dr Asif Tufail, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Vice-Principal Government Medical College Gujranwala, Professor Dr Nudrat Suhail, Dr Fazlur Rehman, Deputy Project Director Waqas Farid and Chief Engineer Sajid Rashid attended the meeting. National January 13, 2021 MULTAN: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has betrayed his commitment by not returning to the country. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, she said that no new medical reports of Nawaz Sharif had been submitted to the government. She said a court had declared him an absconder. However, the minister said the government had the guarantor, who guaranteed Nawaz Sharif’s return. Later, addressing a road show organised by the Punjab Health Foundation at the Government Emerson College Multan, the Punjab minister said that the Punjab government would provide health cards to 20.2 million by the end of this year. The government had also introduced special incentives for providing loan to the private sector, she added. She told that the government had allocated Rs 40 billion to ensure availability of health facilities in the private sector.
