Greg Strimel saw a void and set out to fill it.
With a nationwide concern about innovation capacity and transformative learning experiences, Strimel, an assistant professor in the Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation in Purdue Polytechnic Institute, along with his colleagues, developed and launched a minor in design and innovation in 2018. The goal of the minor: To provide the space and flexibility for all Purdue students, regardless of major or background, to practice innovation within the context of their own ideas and develop design-thinking capabilities in authentic cross-disciplinary settings.
UEGroup partners with Purdue on new technology experience center in Discovery Park District
XCenter will make technology more user-friendly
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Research Foundation on Wednesday (May 5) announced the establishment of the Experience Innovation Center (XCenter) focused on exploring innovative approaches to how people interact and work with technology. Located in Purdue University’s Discovery Park District, the center is a collaboration between UEGroup and the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, one of the 10 academic colleges at Purdue.
“The XCenter’s mission is to bring together amazing minds to reinvent how tech gets done, for humans,” said Troy Hege, vice president of innovation and technology at Purdue Research Foundation. “The center seeks to enable collaboration among industry and academia.”

The university’s top female student is Alexandra “Sasha” Kipnis from the College of Science, and the top male student is Zachary A. Marshall from the College of Engineering, Polytechnic Institute and the Honors College.
