High School Sports: Baseball: Berryville rally falls short (5/4/21)

Tuesday, May 4, 2021 The Berryville Bobcats’ 2021 baseball season came to an end with a loss to Gravette in the first round of the district tournament on Monday, April 26 — but not without a fight. Gravette hung to win 10-9 after Berryville scored eight times in the bottom of the sixth inning to turn a nine-run deficit into a nail-biter. The Bobcats had the tying run on second when the sixth inning ended on a strikeout. Berryville’s comeback included seven hits and two walks in the sixth. Dominic Henry started the big inning with a single, then stole second and moved to third on a single by Jack Dignan. Apen Linz walked to load the bases and Tanner Rosales also drew a base on balls to score Henry. Chris Hipps followed with a two-run single to left field, then Jarrett Stringer had a RBI single to left.

High School Sports: Bobcats get 2 big wins, keep record clean (12/8/20)

A really good start to the season got even better for the Berryville Bobcats last week. The Bobcats won on the road at Bergman by a score of 71-68 on Tuesday, Dec. 1, then beat Class 6A Bentonville West 74-68 at Bobcat Arena on Friday, running their record to 7-0. “Two huge wins against two really good teams,” Berryville coach Brent Compton said Monday. “Our kids just … I couldn’t be more proud of them. They played outstanding.” Senior guard Landon Chester scored 29 points in the victory over Bergman, then added 26 more against Bentonville West. “Landon’s just doing his thing,” Compton said. “He’s shooting it well. He’s making good decisions. He’s finishing strong around the rim, and he makes free throw. He’s just turned into a great player.”
