Mead unanimously votes to revoke ethanol plant’s permit Kelli Kellogg © Provided by Omaha WOWT The Mead Board of Trustees will discuss and take public testimony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021, on whether to revoke AltEn’s conditional-use permit for the operation of an ethanol plant in Saunders County. MEAD, Neb. (WOWT) - After hearing from the public Tuesday night, the board for the Village of Mead voted unanimously to revoke the conditional-use permit for the AltEn ethanol plant. Much of the 30 minutes of debate ahead of the 5-0 vote was whether to suspend or revoke the permit. The plant had been under scrutiny for using seed corn covered in pesticides and stockpiling the residue on-site. Some residents have said contamination from the plant is making them and their pets sick.
