JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson Public Works officials say it will likely be the spring before work begins on the Belhaven Creek Improvement Project.
The project is needed to increase capacity along the creek, which would help prevent flash flooding in the Belhaven neighborhood.
In October, the Jackson Council awarded a $2.9 million Hemphill Construction to do the work.
“It very well could start in March,” Public Works Director Charles Williams said, referring to the project. “A lot of details will be hammered out at the pre-construction meeting.”
