Marty Gausen
Marty Gausen of Ashburn, VA passed away January 9th, 2021 after a brief hospitalization. Marty was born to Larry and Karen (Alby) Gausen in Bemidji MN on June 26th, 1974. He spent his childhood in Bemidji and graduated from high school in 1992.
Shortly after graduation Marty joined the United States Marine Corp. He was stationed for three years at Camp Pendleton, CA prior to completing his service at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Marty’s experience in the Marines played a very important role in his life. The Marines taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. Marty felt the time he spent in the USMC were the greatest years of his life, he was honored and proud to have served his country.

A North Dakota-based financial-services firm, fresh off a 2020 initial public offering of stock and record earnings, is getting most of its growth from the Twin Cities.
Grand Forks-based Alerus Financial, once known as the First National Bank of Grand Forks, has quietly built a sizable Minnesota franchise. The state is also home to several of its top executives and half of the 800 employees.
The company, which has grown organically as well as through acquisitions of specialty financial firms, just reported 2020 earnings growth that rose 51% to $44.7 million. Revenue in commercial loans, mortgages, retirement-and-wealth management products rose in double-digit percentages.
