BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) â Music educators are calling for equity and restriction changes.
After nearly a full year of teaching with tough COVID-19 restrictions for instrumental and choral, music teachers are calling on the state to make a change in recommendations.
Music teachers and students across the region are working hard to be creative in learning, rehearsing and performing music and singing virtually.
Music classes now have limited classroom instruction, but the tough COVID restrictions continue to create challenges.

OLEAN, N.Y. (WKBW) â It s a major milestone - in an on-doing pandemic, Archbishop Walsh and Southern Tier Catholic School is celebrating 100 days of safe in-person learning. The school just celebrated this achievement Tuesday. Third grade teacher Bethann Owens said her students are thriving. It helps with our relationships, the social aspect for the students. They re able to dig deeper and go much further with their education than you can when you re online, she said.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Throughout the pandemic, parents say they have have noticed the toll it s taking on their children. All of our students are being adversely impacted mentally, physically and emotionally, Tarja Parssinen, a Williamsville parent said.
It s why a group of parents with children in the Clarence, Williamsville and Buffalo school districts started Western New York Students First, a group giving a voice to students, parents and everyone in between. Lets have a voice and a better seat at the table, or more seats at the table, because right now it doesn t feel like they have many or any, Jonathan Rich, a Williamsville parent said.
