The local COVID-19 vaccination effort is beginning to reach out for harder-to-reach populations, including minorities and college students.
A clinic is being set up for local Hispanic and Latino populations on Sunday, April 18. at AEA. SALUD multicultural health coalition is helping Public Health to reach those residents.
SALUD board member Emilia Marroquin was invited to speak during Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds live streamed press conference Wednesday on reaching the states multicultural population with COVID-19 information.
Gov. Reynolds noted that the Hispanic/Latino population, estimated at 200,000, is Iowas largest ethnic group. Confusion, lack of access to health care or language barriers may be holding the group back from obtaining vaccine, she said, noting that 60 percent of that population are saying that they do not have enough information on where and how to get vaccine. Cherokee Man Arrested By Storm Lake Police On Drug Charges

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) A Cherokee man was arrested on drug and assault charges on Sunday.
The Storm Lake Police Department says they conducted a traffic stop at Business Highway 71 and 580th Street for a minor traffic violation. A K-9 was deployed and alerted to an odor of narcotics in the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle initially provided a false name but was ultimately identified as 40-year-old Christian Wunder Jr. During a search of the vehicle, police located meth and marijuana along with drug equipment.

Marcus & Millichap has arranged the sale of Vista Estates, a manufactured housing community in Storm Lake, Iowa, for $5.5 million, according to
ReBusiness Online. Public records show the new owner is an entity related to The BoaVida Group.
Located at 811 Vestal St., the 127-site property is within 2 miles from several retail and dining options both in stand-alone buildings and within the Storm Lake Plaza as well as several parks and golf courses. Additionally, the community is close to Buena Vista University and the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. Completed in 1971, Vista Estates includes 112 homes that are tenant owned.
