Woman who spat at police and refused to leave Aldi is jailed

A DRUNK woman who spat in the face of a police officer after refusing to leave an Aldi store has been jailed. Sevana Francais had been asked by staff the leave the Aldi store in London Road, Bexhill, after drinking gin and wine while in the shop on Thursday, May 6. The 46-year-old who was drunk had not paid for the drinks and refused to leave, becoming abusive towards staff and customers. As police tried to put her in the rear of the police car, she spat in the face of one of the officers. She was subsequently arrested and charged on suspicion of theft from a shop and assaulting an emergency worker.

Police crack down on drug and knife crime in Eastbourne and Seaford

Police have hailed a recent crackdown on crime in Eastbourne and Seaford a major success. Man arrested after police pursuit in Bexhill

Police said, on Saturday (May 1), officers identified a ‘suspicious vehicle’ travelling around the Bexhill area. The vehicle failed to stop for police on De La Warr Parade, according to a spokesman, and short pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended in Broadoak Lane. On Wednesday (May 5), a spokesman for Sussex Police said: “The driver was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and driving a motor vehicle dangerously. After a search of the vehicle, he was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”

Brighton thief John Cain admits bank card purchasing fraud

John Cain took the card and used it fraudulently to purchase items in Brighton. The 59-year-old made purchases at Easy Hours in Grand Parade, Boss Co News in Richmond Place, and B&W Stores in York Place. He was also found in Ship Street, Brighton, with intent to steal. At Brighton Magistrates’ Court this month he admitted three frauds, worth more than £80 in three transactions. Cain was ordered to repay all the money as compensation to the victim of the fraud. Magistrate Christopher Howard-Harris imposed a one-year suspended sentence. Cain, of Gloucester Street, Brighton, must also pay a £128 surcharge and £85 costs.
