Madhya Pradesh to bring love jihad ordinance as winter session deferred

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on December 28 said that his government would be bringing in an ordinance to ban dubious inter-faith marriages, Hindustan Times has reported. The state government will bring the Freedom of Religion ordinance on Tuesday (December 29), Chouhan said, according to the newspaper.
Chouhan s statement came after the winter session of MP Assembly, which was scheduled to begin on December 28, was postponed in view of the COVID-19 situation .

Bhopal: The Dharma Swatantrya (Religious Freedom) Bill 2020 is slated to be tabled before the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet for approval. State Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that the Bill will be cleared in a special Cabinet meeting on December 26 and then will be tabled in the Assembly.
Earlier, he had informed that the state government has proposed a 10-year jail term for luring, threatening and forcing someone into marriage for religious conversion, in the proposed Dharm Swatantrya (Religious Freedom) Bill 2020.

Chief Minister Rural street Vendor Scheme has been implemented on the line of Pradhan Mantri urban street vendor scheme- PM Swanidhi in the rural areas of the state. Under the Chief Minister rural street vendor scheme, small vendors including fruits-vegetables sellers, carpenters, potters, weavers, washer men are given an interest free loan of Rs 10 thousand each for their work.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was seen dancing with his colleagues at an event in the state s Sehore district on Sunday.
Surrounded by BJP leaders and workers, the Chief Minister, wearing a mask, is seen holding a traditional bow as he dances to folk music. In front of him, a group of men and women in colourful clothes form a circle as they perform a traditional dance.
The event was part of distribution of lease certificates of forest rights to tribes at village Bhilai in Sehore district.
Before the PM’s speech, Chief Minister Shivraj assured that Mandis will not be closed. “PM Modi wants to double the income of farmers. Mandis won’t be closed at all… Congress is shedding crocodile tears, Kamalnath had distributed fake loan waiver certificates” he said.
Chouhan on Thursday took stock of the preparations for the four-tier Kisan Kalyan event and directed the collectors of all districts to make necessary arrangements and ensure that information about it reaches the cultivators. Similar programmes will also be organised at district, block and panchayat levels in the state. The chief minister also directed the authorities to ensure that COVID-19 protocols, including social distancing and wearing of masks, are maintained, the official said.
