KOCHI: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD, which had set out on an ambitious mission to transport Liquified Medical Oxygen (LMO) from a steel plant in West Bengal to Kochi, managed to complete the mission successfully when the final two tankers arrived here on on Saturday, While the first truck with 9 tonnes of LMO arrived here on Thursday, the remaining trucks drove in here on Saturday evening after covering the distance of over 2,500km in five days.

Much to the chagrin of passengers, omni bus operators in the State had jacked up fares for long-distance travel on the days preceding the two-week complete lockdown announced by the government to prevent the spread of COVID.
While passengers complained that they had to spend through their nose, the refrain of the operators was that they, too, will be out of business for the duration of complete lockdown.
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the order of Regional Transport Office mandating the vehicle owners who have purchased their vehicles bearing outside Registration Mark to apply for a new Registration Mark in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier the court had reserved its judgment on two petitions challenging the UT administration’s Circular mandating the vehicle owners to apply for a new Registration Mark for the vehicles purchased outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that a Division Bench at Srinagar comprising of Justices Vinod Chatterji Koul and Ali Muhammad Magrey that had reserved its judgement after hearing the writ petitions filed by one Zahoor Ahmad Bhat and Irshad Hussain Munshi, challenging the authority of the Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, today quashed the circular issued by RTO.
