Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that while Australia’s economy had recovered 85 per cent of its fall from COVID-19, the next step in the government’s National Economic Recovery Plan would target the businesses, workers and regions still doing it tough. Morrison said the package’s mix of half-price airline tickets, cheap loans for businesses and direct support to keep planes in the air, and airline workers in their jobs, would be a bridge to a more normal way of life for Aussies.

Construction is set to commence on Willies Creek Royles Rd in Bingegang, 215 kilometres northwest of Rockhampton, in the coming months. Federal Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd said around 10 kilometres of the Willies Creek Royles Road would be upgraded to a seven metre seal width. “Associated drainage, signage, road fixture and road furniture works will also be carried out,” Mr O’Dowd said. “Regional employment will also get a boost with the project expecting to support approximately 15 jobs.”

Date Time $100 million to bolster road safety in South Australia Fifteen new road safety projects are about to start rolling out across South Australia as part of the first tranche of a road safety package worth more than $100 million, designed to reduce road trauma and save lives. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said tranche one works would start imminently and be completed by June to improve safety and support jobs as soon as possible. “This funding is part of our national $2 billion Road Safety Program and will deliver much-needed lifesaving upgrades including shoulder sealing, rumble strips, works to prevent head-on collisions and barriers to prevent run-off-road crashes,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
