Philadelphia serial rape suspect indicted on federal drug, weapons charges Published  Kevin Bennett (Philadelphia Police Department)  PHILADELPHIA - An Indianapolis man accused in a series of rapes and robberies in Philadelphia earlier this month has been federally indicted on drug and weapons offenses.  FBI officials revealed Tuesday that Kevin Bennett, 28, has been indicted in the Sothern District of Indiana on charges including felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in conjunction with a drug trafficking crime.  On Monday, the Philadelphia District Attorney s Office announced their intentions to charge Bennett with multiple counts of rape, burglary, robbery, and weapons offenses once he is extradited back to Philadelphia.

(DAO) The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office will charge a 28-year-old man with rape, robbery, and stalking in connection with a series of sexual assaults and attempted attacks he allegedly perpetrated over the course of four days this month. Kevin Bennett, 28, is now suspected of sexual assault in at least eight states, including Indiana, where police arrested him on Saturday afternoon. He is currently in the custody of the Marion County Sheriffs in Indianapolis following an investigation involving the Philadelphia Police Department, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the FBI.

Close Pennsylvania Republicans on Tuesday nominated a veteran appeals court judge to be their party’s nominee for Supreme Court justice, setting the stage for a high-stakes fight for an open seat on the state’s highest court. Commonwealth Court Judge Kevin Brobson of Dauphin County defeated two GOP rivals, the Associated Press projected early Wednesday. He will face Superior Court Judge Maria McLaughlin, a Philadelphia Democrat who ran unopposed for her party’s nomination, in November’s general election. They’ll vie for a seat being vacated by Chief Justice Thomas Saylor, a Republican who reaches the mandatory retirement age this year. Democrats hold a 5-2 majority on the court, so the balance of power isn’t in play.
