Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (Patafa) President Philip Ella Juico gives an update on the Filipino tracksters’ bid for the coming Tokyo Olympics in Tuesday’s session of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) online Forum.
Juico will talk about the preparations being done by Olympic-bound pole vaulter EJ Obiena and the other tracksters as well who are bidding to qualify for the Summer Olympiad scheduled from July 23 to August 8.
On the side, Juico is also expected to discuss in partial, plans of the Philippine Superliga (PSL) to finally hold competitions this year.
The 10:00 a.m. public sports program is presented by San Miguel Corp., Go For Gold, MILO, Amelie Hotel Manila, Braska Restaurant, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

EJ OBIENA once again broke a national indoor record on Saturday in his second-place finish in the Orlen Cup in Lodz, Poland.
Obiena registered 5.86 meters to place second behind former world champion Sam Kendricks of the US, who won the gold with by clearing the same height on his first try.

Aside from bagging the silver in the competition, Obiena shattered his own Philippine record of 5.80 meters he set early this month when he won a gold in Berlin.
Obiena continues to show improvement during his preparations for the Tokyo Olympics. His training camp is in Italy under Ukrainian coach Vitaly Petrov.
QUEZON CITY, Feb. 3 (PIA) - The Philippine national team of athletes and coaches are requesting to be included in the vaccination priority list for them to start training soonest in preparation for the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The SEA Games is set for November 21-December 2 of this year and preparation for bubble training has to start at once thus, the request of athletes and coaches to be vaccinated as well.
There are 996 athletes, 262 coaches, 280 para-athletes, 82 para coaches; making a total of 1,620 athletes and coaches in the national team, the overall champions in the last SEA Games.
