NMSU to eliminate 57 positions due to funding decrease LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - Citing a decrease in funding during the pandemic, New Mexico State University leaders announced the elimination of 57 positions for the 2021 fiscal year. We try to minimize the impact on every unit, said NMSU President John Floros in his university town hall last week. We had to work through the summer and the last fall to figure out how we were going to deal with some pretty severe budget cuts, Floros said.

LAS CRUCES – The family of Edgar Segovia, who was shot and killed in December 2020, was presented with a memorial plaque Friday by the faculty of New Mexico State University’s marriage and family therapy program. Santiago Rascon, 71, allegedly admitted to fatally shooting Segovia, 29, while Segovia sat in his vehicle in the 4100 block of Broadview Road.
