William Alexander ‘Billy’ McCormick
WILMINGTON Mr. William Alexander “Billy” McCormick, 78, passed on to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 16, 1942, in Laurinburg, his family moved to Wilmington, where he grew up his entire childhood. After high school at New Hanover High, Billy was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army. He was a track commander in mechanized mobile units in Fort Carson, Colorado, and served a year-long deployment in the Republic of Korea, patrolling in and around the demilitarized zone (DMZ).
Returning from service overseas back to Wilmington, Billy worked for many of the local plants as a welder and boilermaker. In 1984, he acquired the ServiceMaster of Wilmington franchise, and, later that year, opened McCormick Auto Sales, running both businesses for five years before going into car sales full time. He operated his car lot in a couple of locations, all on Carolina Beach Roa
North Carolina Man Stabs Estranged Wife Over 15 Times, Throws Her Off Balcony

A man in North Carolina was charged with attempted murder after he stabbed his estranged wife several times before throwing her off the balcony.
On Wednesday night, Mathew Stallings of New Hanover County broke into his estranged wife’s apartment at the New Providence Park Apartment Homes while she was asleep. Stallings then woke her up and stabbed her 15 times before throwing her off the second-floor balcony.
The woman, identified as Elaine Kinn, dropped approximately 14 feet before hitting the ground.
Kinn suffered life-threatening injuries as five of the stab wounds were to her neck. She was rushed to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Kinn is currently reported to be in stable condition, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said, NBC-affiliated television station WECT reported.

SOUTHEASTERN NC NHRMC Physician Group Primary Care practices have opened Covid-19 vaccine appointments for their patients 75 years and older, according to a press release from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
The physician group has the vaccine available at multiple offices and locations, including New Hanover Medical Group, Coastal Family Medicine, NHRMC Physician Specialists Internal Medicine Specialists/Care Team, Wrightsville Beach Family Medicine, Pender Primary Care, and Jacksonville Primary Care.
New Hanover County Health and Human Services (NHCHHS) will provide 1,950 doses to start.
“By transferring a portion of our vaccines to the hospital, it will further Public Health’s efforts to get the vaccine to some of the most vulnerable in our community, as quickly as possible,” said Donna Fayko, director of NHCHHS.

The recent zoning change by the city of Wilmington will be tricky to navigate and will likely stifle many multifamily projects, unless already entitled.”
Veronica Imelda Matul Domingo
SHALLOTTE Veronica Imelda Matul Domingo, 36, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born in Guatemala on May 13, 1984, the daughter of Timoteo Gilberto Matul Perez and Albertina Domingo Vasquez.
Veronica was a horticulturist who worked in the landscaping industry.
Friends are invited to a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services.
