Huge shortages of pickers coupled with significant staff turnovers, it s been a nightmare of a season for orchard growers across the country, but a few brave souls have come to the rescue. RNZ s Hawke s Bay reporter Tom Kitchin takes a look at the personalities up and around the apple picking ladders. It s just a walk in the park.
That might not be what you expect to hear when someone describes apple picking.
But for Dean Gilchrist, it was easier than getting the dole.
Quad patrols at the Dream Pic: St Helens Police POLICE say they have increased high-visibility patrols in response to concerns over illegal off-road bike use. The Star reported yesterday that quad bike patrols were put in place in Thatto Heath following community concerns. St Helens Police have said on Facebook on Sunday evening that they stepped up their presence in various locations across the borough in response to the issue. This includes the Dream site at Sutton Manor and the ex-Parkside Colliery in Newton-le-Willows. A statement by police said: Local officers have been providing high visibility today (Sunday) on quad bikes, in a number of locations that you report to us as concerns or where there is clear illegal off road bike use.

A lack of representation for people of color is inspiring Jessica Miller to bring that representation to the Veterans Garden of Honor in Allendale Township. The garden is the site of a controversial Civil War statue, which features a Confederate soldier and slave child. Over the past several months there have been calls for its removal, its future is still undecided.

Loud, chaotic, dark: a trip through the swinging doors of Hell s Railway promised the creepiest spine-tingling ride of your life .
One of the most popular attractions at Sydney s Luna Park, the Ghost Train yanked passengers along a 180-metre electric track full of hairpin turns.
The ride was lined with scares like the dancing skeletons at this bend.
Then after the ape monster, the dragon’s head and the graveyard Dracula a skeleton sat up in a box. You ll shiver and quake on the Ghost Train, the ride soundtrack cackled.
