COVID vaccines NJ: Moderna vaccine arrives in NJ hospitals

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, meanwhile, anticipates getting 1,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine within the next week, for health care workers who have not received the Pfizer vaccine through their employer or the federal vaccine program for long-term care facilities, administered through CVS and Walgreens. In coordination with the state Department of Health, Bergen County will soon announce the designated registration process for category 1A health care workers to receive the vaccine. A field hospital wing constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers with help from FEMA on the campus of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center will serve as the vaccine distribution site. The facility can handle over 300 vaccinations per day.

Franklin Lakes NJ Most Blessed Sacrament Church weighs future

NorthJersey.com FRANKLIN LAKES  The bell tower still stands, but the leveled site of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church awaits an architectural decision and insurance ruling a year after it was destroyed by arson last Dec. 11. An April online survey of its 2,000 member families was basis for a 98-page Needs Assessment Report by Foresight Architects in June that is posted on the church s website. It includes a 15-page summary, and a 70-page assembly of information gathered from the survey. A Rebuilding Committee, headed by parishioner Mayor Frank Bivona, has issued a series of written reports on their progress, most recently in late October, and posted on the church s website, mostblessedsacrament.ws.

arrow Workers from Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Bergen County screen residents at a mass drive-thru test site at Bergen Community College that opened Dec. 1 Karen Yi/WNYC New Jersey residents are frequently waiting hours to get tested for the coronavirus and are often getting turned away at local clinics that have run dry of supplies as the state struggles to keep up with rising demand and control the surge of infections.  Governor Phil Murphy said more than 400 sites are providing testing across the state, which is performing an average of 50,000 tests a day. While it’s a huge increase from the virus’s first wave in the spring, New Jersey is still testing fewer people compared to New York, which has screened twice as many residents per capita. And this week, the number of administered tests actually decreased, according to data published by Johns Hopkins University.
