NTT INDYCAR SERIES Rolls into 2021 with Defiant Momentum

Anticipation continues to build for the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES opener Sunday, April 18 at Barber Motorsports Park, the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by AmFirst. Here’s a look at the year ahead and what’s new with North America’s premier open-wheel series:
Varied, Challenging Schedule
The season begins with the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by AmFirst, one of the many traditional events on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES calendar, which makes a return after the 2020 pandemic year.
A series of four races in three weekends will start the season, including the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on Sunday, April 25 and a doubleheader weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2 for the Genesys 300 and the XPEL 375. Six of the first eight events

Watching IndyCar practice, qualifications and the Indy Lights Series will require a different streaming platfrom.

IndyCar and NBC will continue to negotiate an extension.
IndyCar’s digital streaming content will move to the Peacock subscription service this year.
The new policy was first delivered to NBC Sports Gold IndyCar subscribers on Monday morning.

When NBC launched Peacock last summer, it began to roll live sports content into the platform, starting with the Premier League. Prior to the start of the 2020-21 Premier League season, NBC announced that all of the content that used to be available on the NBC Sports Gold Premier League Pass would now be available on Peacock. At the time, it seemed inevitable that many of the other Gold, sport-specific pass services would also be rolled into Peacock.
IndyCar Opener Pushed Back, Moved to Big NBC
The IndyCar season will now begin with four races in 15 days.
The Grand Prix of Alabama will take place on April 18
The season now features a record nine events on broadcast TV
The NTT IndyCar Series season opener at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama has been postponed again, this time moving back a week from Sunday April 11 to Sunday April 18.
The move allows the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama to be featured on NBC network television. A record nine races will air on over the air NBC in 2021.
The event will initiate a busy opening stretch for the IndyCar Series with four races in 15 days with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (April 25) and a doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway (May 1-2) to follow.

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) Indianapolis-based IndyCar has announced another change to the start of the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season.
The series, which was originally slated to begin in St. Petersburg, Florida in early March, will now host its season opener from Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama on April 18.
This is the third change to the 2021 schedule since it was announced in October. Originally, the season was slated to open in St. Petersburg on March 7, followed by races at Barber Motorsports Park on April 11 and the Streets of Long Beach on April 18.
