Bokaro: In addition to sending to three tankers of oxygen cylinders, the Bokaro district health department has also sent five ventilator beds to Ranchi after the Covid-19 situation turned alarming at the state capital.
District civil surgeon Dr A K Pathak said, Five ventilator beds have been sent to Ranchi on the direction of state government.”
The move sending of ventilator beds, however, is criticised by residents and political leaders, including local BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan, as Bokaro is among the three severely hit districts of the state.
Criticising the district administration s move, Narayan said Bokaro has not been utilising the beds to treat patients from the district. He has also written to DC Rajesh Singh for effective utilisation of beds.
Bokaro: The Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) management has handed over the Bokaro Ispat Vidyalaya, located in Sector 6A of the BSL Township, to the distric.
Bokaro: The Bokaro administration has intensified testing through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and TrueNat as samples from the district are piling up at the microbiology lab in Pataliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Dhanbad.
“We have intensified testing through RAT and TrueNat. There are 12 TrueNat machines in Sadar Hospital, Bokaro General Hospital and other blocks of the district,” civil surgeon Dr A K Pathak said on Wednesday.
According to sources in the district health department sources, 2,500 samples are yet to be tested at PMCH. “Although we received a few test reports on Tuesday, those samples were collected on April 8,” an official said.
Bokaro: Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases in Bokaro, the district administration is finding it difficult to rope in private hospitals for the treatment.
Bokaro: The Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) has launched a dedicated helpdesk to provide telephonic consultation to Covid-19 patients in home isolation. The hospital, which is owned and operated by the Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL), is only admitting critical Covid-19 patients from the general public in a bid to prevent shortage of beds.
“A team of doctors will attend calls and advice the patients on medicines and the further course of treatment round the clock. If needed, the doctors will also tell the patients whether they need hospitalisation,” a BGH official told TOI on Friday. However, the BGH is yet to make public its helpdesk number.
