Officials from the Timiskaming Health Unit state “The Timiskaming Health Unit (THU) is announcing that the Encore Club in Kirkland Lake has been closed by Order of Public Health Inspector.”

According to Health Unit officials “The Encore Club must submit a safety plan for approval by the Timiskaming Health Unit prior to re-opening.”
They add “Residents of the Timiskaming district are reminded that we are currently under a lockdown order, directed by the province of Ontario. All public health measures need to be followed and gatherings must not take place.”

The Public Health Inspector’s Union of Sri Lanka urged the Government and relevant authorities that travel restrictions be imposed to prevent people from crossing provincial borders during the festive season as the high number of Covid-19 cases reported in the Western Province.
The Union’s Chairman Upul Rohana said that Covid patients were increasing in the community at an unprecedented level.he said a large number of patients continue to be reported from the Colombo Municipal Council area in the Colombo District.
“Similar situations are being reported in Gampaha and Kalutara districts as well,” he said.

(Colombo) News 1st: The Galle Magistrate’s Court ordered for appropriate action to be taken on a request made by relatives of a deceased Muslim male, a victim of COVID-19, to retain his remains in a cold storage facility at the hospital without cremation.
The patient had passed away at the Karandeniya Hospital on the 19th of December.
Accordingly, the court ordered the Sri Lanka Police today (21) to seek necessary instructions from the Director-General of Health Services regarding the request made by the aggrieved family members.

The country’s total COVID-19 patient count increased to 37,261, with health authorities stating that 592 persons tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
The patients detected yesterday include 554 associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and 38 persons linked to the Prisons COVID-19 cluster. The triple clusters, which include the Divulapitiya cluster as well, has thus increased to 33,590 patients.
According to the situation report published yesterday by the Epidemiology Unit, 1,630 Sri Lankan returnees from abroad, 950 Navy personnel and their contacts, 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu cluster, and 126 foreigners are also among the COVID-19 patients identified in the island.
