Acting U.S. Attorney Bridget M. Brennan announced that a federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment charging Robert Bearden, of Chesterland, Ohio, with three counts of wire fraud and one count of theft of government funds. According to the indictment, in July of 2020, the Defendant allegedly devised a scheme to fraudulently obtain Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, including approximately $60,000 in loans identified in the indictment.
