Pak Embassy in S Arabia extorting money from labourers: PM

Top Story April 30, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said a high-level inquiry had been ordered against the Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia, which used to extort money from labourers and the ambassador was being probed and those responsible will be given an exemplary punishment. The prime minister said overseas Pakistanis had saved the economy of this country but it was unfortunate to say that our embassies were not treating these hard working people well. “These are very special people. We can t give them jobs here, which is why they are forced to work away from their families,” he said.

Top Story April 30, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday rejected outright the allegations of former DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Bashir Memon as baseless and said he did not call for investigation against anyone except the PML-N leader Khawaja Asif. He said this during an interaction with senior journalists and anchorpersons here. Imran refuted Memon’s allegations and also spoke on other national matters. Various issues facing the country as well as Memon’s allegations came under discussion. “It was not Bashir Memon s job to file the reference, so why ask him?” Imran said he had never talked about making cases against PML-N or PPP and never asked for making a case of terrorism against Maryam Nawaz in the case of picture of the first lady. However, he added Memon used to brief him on JIT’s progress with reference to Omni Group.

PM Imran Khan tells EAC: Avoid more taxes

April 23, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Terming inflation a big challenge, Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday asked the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) to propose out of box solutions in the given difficult economic situation to provide relief to masses instead of imposition of more taxes. The prime minister while chairing the EAC meeting through video link directed the forum to present roadmap for economic stability and sustainable growth. The prime minister directed the finance minister to ensure the full functioning of the Council, which makes recommendations on important issues related to the country’s economy. He said that the purpose of setting up the EAC was to take advantage of the suggestions of eminent economists in building the country’s economy on a sustainable basis.
