New Delhi: The new labour codes would soon provide companies with the flexibility of four working days in a week and free medical check ups to workers through the Employees State Insurance Corporation, labour and employment secretary Apurva Chandra said on Monday. The Ministry of Labour and Employment will soon finalise the draft rules under the labour codes, said news reports.

The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment is working to roll out new labour codes, where it proposes flexibility to companies to reduce the number of working days to four days a week and provide free medical check-ups to workers through state insurance. However, the cap on working hours of 48 hours per week will remain sacrosanct.
Companies will have to give three days’ of paid leaves and 12 hours of work per day to their employees with the consent of the workers, said Labour and Employment Secretary Apurva Chandra said on Monday.

The four labour codes enacted by the Parliament in 2020 are set to be implemented soon.

Once the rules are notified, the codes would come into effect.
The government introduced the codes with the aim to streamline and simplify the country s existing and overlapping labour laws. Since the subject of labour comes under the Concurrent List of the Constitution, there were hundreds of state and central labour laws.

Under the National Health Mission, ASHAs are envisaged to be community health volunteers and are entitled only to task and activity based incentives, minister of state for health Ashwini Choubey said in a written reply.
In the 2018-19 fiscal, the Union Cabinet revised the amount of incentive for ASHAs from Rs 1,000 to 2,000 per month, he said while elaborating on the measures taken by the government to empower them.
In addition to routine and recurring incentives, many states and union territories also introduced fixed monthly honorarium for ASHAs from their respective budgets, the minister said.
