In a frantic bid to escape after being slapped with the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA),
prime accused in an extortion and abetment to suicide case Deepti Saroj Kale (40), also wanted for multiple other crime cases, fell to her
death from the eighth floor of the
Sassoon General Hospital on Tuesday evening.
Kale and her close aide, Nilesh Shelar, were arrested on April 18 by the Vishrambaug police in the abetment to suicide case of city jeweller Milind Marathe (60). After testing positive for COVID, Kale was housed at the Sassoon hospital since April 24. The police have said that Kale headed an organised crime syndicate and had committed various serious offences along with her gang members. Considering all the charges,

Court quashes Divisional Commissioner’s order rejecting plea
The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court recently granted relief to contract killer-turned-politician Arun Gawli, lodged in Nagpur Central Jail, and quashed the order rejecting his parole.
A Division Bench of Justices Z.A. Haq and Amit Borkar was hearing a criminal petition filed by Gawli, 68, against an order passed on March 3, by Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur division. The Commissioner rejected Gawli’s plea for grant of parole on the basis of an adverse police report in view of the Prisons (Bombay Furlough and Parole) Rules.

Hours after the Supreme Court upheld the Bombay High Court order on a preliminary probe by CBI into the corruption charges levelled against former home minister Anil Deshmukh by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, the state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil on Thursday claimed two more state ministers will have to resign in 15 days and that the state was a fit case for President s rule . However, he clarified that BJP was not making any demand for the same.
His statement came a day after suspended cop Sachin Vaze in a letter claimed former state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had demanded â¹ 2 crore from him to continue his service in the Mumbai police and another minister Anil Parab asked him to collect money from contractors.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 8 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state chief Chandrakant Patil on Thursday said Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) should be invoked in the whole Sachin Waze matter as it all appears to be an organised crime. Whatever these people (Anil Deshmukh, Anil Parab, Waze etc.) have done is an organised criminal activity. MCOCA should be involved in this matter and it should be investigated thoroughly, Patil said at a press conference. Waze was a saint for them till yesterday and such a saint that they adjourned house for 9 times and today Sanjay Raut revised that Waze is not a saint .. There are confused, the BJP state chief added.
