PM Modi praises Maharashtra’s efforts to fight COVID-19
The Chief Minister informed PM Modi about the state government s planning to face the third wave of novel COVID-19 virus.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the Covid-19 related situation and praised the state’s efforts to fight coronavirus, informed state Chief Minister Office (CMO).
According to a statement from the CMO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the call enquired about Maharashtra’s efforts in the fight against Covid-19 and said that the state was fighting a good battle against the second wave.

Modi has been interacting with chief ministers over telephone for the last couple of days to take stock of the pandemic situation in their states.
Maharashtra has been the worst-affected state during the second wave of the COVID-19 infections. Though some of its cities, including Mumbai, have seen consistent improvement, the situation in many parts of the state remains of concern.
PM Modi spoke with Uddhav Thackeray and the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke with four Chief Ministers in separate phone calls and discussed the coronavirus situation in their states, government sources said. He dialed Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur.
Maharashtra, the state hardest hit by the pandemic since last year, is among the states seeing a plateauing of fresh infections, the Union Health Minsirtry had said on Friday. The state logged 54,022 new cases in the last 24 hours. 898 Covid patients died in the same period.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has urged the central government to allow states to develop their ownapplications for COVID-19 vaccination programme. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thackeray said the vaccination drive in Maharashtra has been the fastest and the most efficient in the country . At present, people have to register their names on CoWIN platform introduced by the central government for the vaccination. As we plan to open up vaccination for the 18 to 45 age group through the state s procurement, the CoWIN app is seeing a sudden surge in the number of citizens wanting to register nationally. There is fear about the app malfunctioning and crashing as it did on the first day of registration of the age group, he said.
