Administration on a war footing to make oxygen available at medical facilities, says Maharashtra Chief Minister
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday said mutations of the novel coronavirus had been found in a number of samples and the administration was on a war footing to make oxygen available at medical facilities across the State.
“Several samples have revealed mutations of the virus. The rate of infection is much higher than last year, with many among the younger generation now getting infected. Reining in the contagion will be even more challenging this year and all restrictions announced by the government must be strictly enforced
Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh was on Wednesday questioned for eight hours by the CBI conducting the Preliminary Enquiry (PE) on orders of the Bombay High Court in connection with the allegations of corruption raised against him by former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh, an official said. Deshmukh denied the allegations raised against him by Singh during questioning and told the officers that they were an attempt to malign the image of the state government, sources said. The senior NCP leader reached the DRDO guest house in suburban Santacruz, where a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is camping, around 10 am, the official said, adding the questioning ended for the day around 6 pm.

In a good news for lakhs of Mumbaikars, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said that domestic helps can go to work during the 15-day long lockdown-like curbs imposed across Maharashtra by the government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
BMC chief IS Chahal announced that house-helps would be allowed to travel and work during the fresh set of restrictions. It may be recalled that the lockdown-type restrictions were announced by Maharashtra Relief and Rehabilitation Ministry on Tuesday.
