The Chief Minister also hinted that citizens may have to face few hardships in the coming days. At an all-party meeting called by Mr. Thackeray to discuss the possible lockdown, a consensus was reached on the need to call for the stricter lockdown at least for eight days. All parties also asked the administration to ensure adequate time for preparation before announcing lockdown. The Chief Minister will also meet with the State’s Task Force on COVID-19 before the decision is announced.

Covid-19: In Mumbai, BMC receives 99,000 doses of Covishield ANI | Updated: Apr 10, 2021 19:14 IST Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 10 (ANI): The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday said it received 99,000 doses of the Covishieldvaccine. As per the BMC, the doses will be distributed to civic and government-run vaccine centres. Vaccine shortage in Mumbai led to the temporary halting of vaccination across 75 vaccination centres in the city on Friday. This comes amid allegations by Chief Ministers across the country that there are only enough vaccines in the state for the next few days. Mumbai is currently under a weekend lockdown till 7 am on Monday in an effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 infection. The city reported 9,200 COVID19 cases and 35 deaths on Friday. There are currently 90,333 active cases in the city.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday held an all-party meeting over the worsening covid situation in the state and indicated the imposition of a strict lockdown given the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, as per some ministers and a senior BJP leader who attended an all-party meeting. Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis was also present in the meeting. Speaking in the all-party meet, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that he honestly believe that a strict lockdown is necessary in the state, to control the spread of coronavirus. He added unlike last year s lockdown, everything is open right now and it is difficult to trace people. He also said that some people are spreading misinformation that coronavirus is not a disease.
