Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday said that private hospitals in the state will be roped in for Covid-19 vaccination drive of the general public in the coming days.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday said that private hospitals in the state will be roped in for Covid-19 vaccination drive of the general public in the coming days.
He stated that efforts were being made to get neccessary approvals from the Centre. The state government urged the central government to allow private hospitals, which have the capacity, to carry out Covid-19 vaccination drive without limiting the number of vaccination centres. Accordingly, 29 hospitals were approved in Mumbai and similar arrangements will be made in the state, he said.

India today expanded the nationwide vaccination against the coronavirus, opening registerations for people above 60 years and those aged 45 in the second phase of the inoculation drive which began on January 16.
Citizens will be able to register and book an appointment for vaccination, anytime and anywhere, using the Co-WIN 2.0 portal or through other IT applications such as Arogya Setu.
With 15,510 fresh cases, India s COVID-19 tally has climbed to 1,11,12,241, while the number of recoveries has surged to 1,07,86,457, the Union health ministry said on Monday.
The death count due to the viral disease has gone up to 1,57,157 in the country with 106 more fatalities reported in a 24-hour period, the ministry s data updated at 8 am showed.

Maharashtra government on Sunday extended the Covid-19 guidelines till March 31 following a steep rise in confirmed cases in parts of the state. The city of Mumbai on February 28 reported 1,051 fresh cases along with five more Covid-related deaths.

Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat accounted for 83.37 per cent fresh Covid-19 cases reported from across the country on Sunday, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
