Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 7 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a preliminary inquiry in connection with the Bombay high court order to probe allegations of corruption levelled against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The information was confirmed on Tuesday by the CBI spokesperson.
Bombay High Court had directed CBI to start a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into allegations.
Deshmukh, a former Home Minister of the Maharashtra government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday challenging the Bombay High Court order directing a CBI s preliminary probe against him.

Suspended Mumbai cop, Sachin Vaze who is accused in Mansukh Hiren death case and is currently under NIA custody, on Wednesday made an explosive claim accusing former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for demanding Rs 2 crore from him to continue his service in Mumbai police.
Vaze s counsel submitted a letter before the court today in which the suspended cop levelled corruption allegations against ex-Maharashtra minister Anil Deshmukh.
In his letter, Vaze has also claimed that NCP supremo Sharad Pawar didn t want him in the police department again.
However, his letter has not been accepted by the court as of now as it has asked Vaze to place it through the proper forum.

The former top cop of Mumbai, Param Bir Singh, had levelled serious allegations of corruption against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. This comes a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a preliminary inquiry in connection with the Bombay High Court order to probe allegations of corruption levelled against Deshmukh.

NEW DELHI: Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh appeared before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Mumbai on Wednesday to record his statement in connection with the case of an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani s residence.
Singh, who is currently director general of the Home Guards, was removed from the Mumbai police chief s post last month, following the recovery of the vehicle with explosives near Ambani s house on February 25 and the subsequent murder of Thane businessman Manuskh Hiran.
According to sources, Singh was summoned by the NIA to record his statement in the case. The NIA last month arrested assistant police inspector Sachin Waze for his alleged role in planting the vehicle with explosives near Ambani s house in south Mumbai.
Waze was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on March 13.

MUMBAI: A Mumbai court on Wednesday extended the NIA custody of suspended Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze till April 9 in the case of an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani s residence and the death of businessman Mansukh Hiran.
Waze was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on March 13.
He was on Wednesday produced before special NIA court judge P R Sitre, who extended his custody to the probe agency till April 9.
The NIA had sought the extension of Waze s remand for further probe into the case.
