The landmark signing of a memorandum of understanding between multiple partners signals the progression towards Gladstone becoming âthe hydrogen capital of the world.â
By the year 2030, it is anticipated thousands of people will be employed in the renewable hydrogen industry in Gladstone and CQ, and exports generating billions of dollars will flow through Queenslandâs biggest and busiest multi-commodity port.
Global hydrogen heavyweight, Japanâs Sumitomo Corporation, has partnered with Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC), Gladstone Regional Council (GRC), CQ University (CQU) and the Australian Gas Industry Group AGIG to develop Australiaâs, and the worldâs first hydrogen ecosystem. “It was very small, like a mozzie bite.”
Those were the words of Gladstone and Banana Shire Director of Medical Services Dr Dilip Kumar after receiving the port city’s first AstraZeneca COVID vaccination on Wednesday morning.
Despite calls to pause the AstraZeneca rollout due to a few people experiencing blood clots, the emergency physician said he had complete confidence the vaccine was safe.
“It is very safe, the benefit far outweighs the risk from the vaccine and the risk is very minimal,” he said.
Dr Kumar said the Therapeutic Goods Administration used world leading clinical testing methods and everyone should be confident of the AstraZeneca vaccine’s efficacy.

Almost $25 million for Central Qld regional councils’ Works for Qld projects

Central Queensland’s regional councils will receive $24.52 million from the latest round of the Palaszczuk Government’s hugely successful Works for Queensland program as part of Queensland’s plan for economic recovery.
Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing, Minister for Water and Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher said works for Queensland helps local governments deliver or maintain important community infrastructure projects that support local jobs.
“We have seen what a really positive impact the Works for Queensland program has had on communities throughout our regions,” Mr Butcher said.
