ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers’ (AWFS) 2021 AWFS Fair will be held July 20-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Its education program, College of Woodworking Knowledge (CWWK), will take place during that period, with all-day symposiums kicking off the event the day before on July 19.
Designed to meet the current needs of show attendees, the two dozen sessions will span topics to strengthen corporate culture and grow your workforce, enhance business management expertise, and increase knowledge of the latest technologies.

Marc Adams
Marc Adams founded the Marc Adams School of Woodworking and has been woodworking professionally for more than 40 years. In 1991, he became a technical consultant to the WWPA, SFPA, AHEC, and the U.S. government, representing the United States on International Quality of Furniture Making. His work has appeared in many books and national magazines, including on the cover of Fine Woodworking. His Technical Techniques video series was awarded four Telly awards. I’ve seen many shops and have interviewed hundreds of woodworkers. I’m often asked what makes companies successful.
Here are some of my own observations from visiting many successful companies. I have written about this in the past and have modified and changed a few things here.
How can you be successful? One of the biggest things is simple…connect with others in your industry. There are many trade groups and associations that are well worth your time. Members of the Cabinet Makers Association and Architectural Woodwork Institute, for example, are two groups that shops tell me are particularly helpful. Imagine if you had a challenge you were grappling with, and a friend had been through the same issue. Wouldn’t you want to know how they handled it?
