USI Sexual Assault and Gender Violence Prevention group hosts human trafficking awareness presentation USI Sexual Assault and Gender Violence Prevention group hosts human trafficking awareness presentation 1/20/2021 | University Communications As a part of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, the University of Southern Indiana Sexual Assault and Gender Violence Prevention Group (SAGVP) in collaboration with the Southwest Indiana Regional Coalition Against Trafficking (SIRCAT) will host Field Consultant Eric Harris, BSW, for a virtual presentation about human trafficking awareness on January 28 at 6 p.m. CST. This event is sponsored by the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program (ITVAP). The public can register for the Zoom webinar by going to USI.edu/laevents.

January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month and Natalie Proud, Associate Program Director of Covenant House Pennsylvania discussed perils of trafficking and how it is more common than many people realize. Proud oversees the anti-trafficking coalition. Regarding the new trend, young girls may want followers on social media. They write their information down and put that information into the pockets of pants, dresses, skirts and more at clothing stores or departments stores. Many just don t understand the greater consequences of these actions.
