Ashton was charged this week with sexually abusing nine students.  Prosecutors say the victims, all boys, were between the ages of 8 and 12, and the allegations date from the past four years. Additional cases could predate that, according to the Monroe County District Attorney s Office. The independent policies, procedures of practices review aims to ensure nothing like this ever happens again, said district spokeswoman Grace Scism. Harris Beach law firm has been retained to conduct the review once the law enforcement investigation is complete, Scism said. The district had an all-staff meeting late Thursday afternoon via Zoom, and a similar session with Northwood Elementary parents, district leaders and representatives from Bivona Child Advocacy Center. A countywide trauma, illness and grief team has been called in to assist students and staff, Scism said.
