Bradfords goes the extra mile for mental health 16 April, 2021 SHARE Bradfords Building Supplies is launching a 10,000-mile challenge to mark this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (11-16 May), encouraging its staff to get moving outdoors across the region while raising £10,000 for its partner charity, Mental Health UK. From 16 April, the Bradfords team has a month to cover the individual distances its members have set themselves, finishing on 16 May, the final day of awareness week. Collectively, they will aim to reach or exceed their 10,000-mile target and raise at least £10,000 for Mental Health UK in the process. The idea was suggested by Bradfords’ team members Dean Gerrans, Branch Manager at the company’s Redruth site and Sam White, who leads the key accounts team in Plympton. Both aim to cover 400 miles each during the course of the challenge.

Nick Jemetta, 37, has been donning different fancy dress costumes for the last year to help raise money for charities close to his heart, as well as open up a positive dialogue with colleagues about mental health. Having lived through his own experiences of anxiety and even suicidal thoughts, Nick was well placed to realise that lockdown could have an extremely negative effect on all of us – and was determined to bring everyone some smiles.
