ROCHESTER, Minn. Patients diagnosed with post-COVID-19 syndrome, also known as PCS, COVID-19 long-haul syndrome and Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS COV-2, experience symptoms such as mood disorders, fatigue and perceived cognitive impairment that can negatively affect returning to work and resuming normal activities, according to a Mayo Clinic study published in
Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
The study reports on the first 100 patients to participate in Mayo Clinic s COVID-19 Activity Rehabilitation program (CARP), one of the first multidisciplinary programs established to evaluate and treat patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. The patients were evaluated and treated between June 1 and Dec. 31, 2020. They had a mean age of 45, and 68% were female. They were evaluated a mean of 93 days after infection.

DEAR MAYO CLINIC: My doctor told me that I have congestive heart failure and I have to change my lifestyle, including my diet. What kind of diet should I be on?
ANSWER: When patients have congestive heart failure, their heart isnât able to manage fluid well, and it builds up in the body. This fluid can cause shortness of breath, swelling in the abdomen or legs, and fatigue. If this occurs, diuretics, or water pills, often are prescribed to remove the excess fluid. Your health care provider also will recommend that you restrict your sodium, or salt, intake.
Dense breast tissue: What it means to have dense breasts
Dense breast tissue: What it means to have dense breasts
Dense breast tissue is detected on a mammogram. Additional imaging tests are sometimes recommended for women with dense breasts.By Mayo Clinic Staff
If a recent mammogram showed you have dense breast tissue, you may wonder what this means for your breast cancer risk. Doctors know dense breast tissue makes breast cancer screening more difficult and it increases the risk of breast cancer.
Review your breast cancer risk factors with your doctor and consider your options for additional breast cancer screening tests. Together you can decide whether additional screening tests are right for you.

Changing your diet can help your heart.
DEAR MAYO CLINIC: My sister just turned 50. She went in for a standard cardiac checkup and learned she has high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The doctor told her that since our mom also had these issues, she must drastically change her diet, increase her exercise, and take medications to lessen her risk for a heart attack or stroke. I’m only 34 and have never had an issue, but I’m wondering if there are things I should be doing now to stay more heart-healthy.
