Boy who attempted to stop attack on his mother fatally stabbed, Austin man charged

Created: December 18, 2020 12:45 PM A 27-year-old Austin, Minnesota, man has been charged after allegedly fatally stabbing a boy who reportedly attempted to stop the man from harming his mother and siblings. Police arrived at the scene on the 800 block of Third Avenue Tuesday at about 9 a.m. after receiving a call reporting a domestic incident. A criminal complaint states officers found a woman on the lawn with a stab wound to her neck. The woman identified the suspect as 27-year-old Jaime Arquimides Vaca, her husband, and told officers her son had also been stabbed inside the house. Inside, officers found the boy with stab wounds on the couch, the complaint states. Authorities learned the boy was attempting to protect his mother from Vaca.

It was dubbed the Light Up the Night Dive-by Holiday Parade: A Tribute to Frontline Healthcare Workers. Neighbors nearby clapped from their balconies while onlookers praised medical staff.  The parade started nearby the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus. The route continued along 2nd Street Southwest and made a final stop at Olmsted Medical Center s main campus. A similar parade was held in the spring. Tuesday s Drive-by Holiday Parade Will Honor Frontline Workers

Rochester Mayor Kim Norton and Santa Claus will be joining Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service and a convoy of public safety vehicles for a special holiday drive-by event at 7:00 PM Tuesday (12/15) to honor Rochester s frontline health care workers who have and continue to work so hard to combat COVID-19. According to a press release from Mayo Clinic, The vehicles will assemble along 4th Street S.W. near the water tower on the hill south and east of Mayo Clinic Hospital – Saint Mary s Campus. The route will take the vehicles to the main (West) Hospital entrance. After stopping briefly in front of the hospital, the parade will continue along 2nd Street Southwest to the Methodist campus and will make a final stop at Olmsted Medical Center’s main campus.

Colleen Dronen Colleen Kay (Oster) Dronen, 68, Bismarck, ND, departed this world the same way she lived in it, quietly and calmly, on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester, MN, with her family by her side. Colleen was born in Jamestown, ND on November 11, 1952, the daughter of James and Marion (Clemens) Oster. She grew up in Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1970. She married Michael Dronen on December 4, 1971. Together, they built a home in Jamestown and for the next 41 years, enjoyed working on home improvements and tending to their gardens. Colleen was a devoted, stay at home mother to her three children. In 1984, she began a 24-year career at the Jamestown Police Department as a secretary, eventually being promoted to Office Manager. Colleen was described by her colleagues as a second mother to the police officers, always taking time to make new officers feel at home and watching over them.
