(AP Photo/Matt Rourke) The Montgomery County Commissioners, on the advice of the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, has declared a “Code Blue” Cold Weather Emergency for Montgomery County based on a review of forecasts from the National Weather Service. The Code Blue declaration has been issued for the period beginning Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at 9 p.m. and ending on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at 9 a.m. During this time, either the temperature or the wind chill is expected to be below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Montgomery County Health and Human Service goes virtual for Black History Month

NORRISTOWN — The pandemic has ensured that the Montgomery County Health and Human Services approach to Black History Month would be decidedly different for 2021. Instead of the customary day of speakers and honorees, the agency is presenting weekly virtual forums on the theme “The Black Family,” through moderated interactive discussions with notable county authorities. “The Montgomery County Commissioners and our director of Health and Human Services thought that we shouldn’t allow a year to go by without having anything for Black History Month, so the committee came up with a way that we could do it virtually,” noted administrative assistant Lora Gonzalez.

Montgomery County Community College Board of Trustees names officers for 2021

WHITPAIN — The Montgomery County Community College Board of Trustees elected its new officers for the 2021 calendar year during its monthly public meeting on Jan. 25 held via Zoom. Board members re-elected Frank X. Custer of Upper Gwynedd Township as chairman, Lisa B. Binder of Whitpain Township as vice chairwoman and Marcel L. Groen of Abington Township as treasurer, and elected Theresa M.
