Judge Drops Capital Murder Charge Against Three Accused of Killing Montgomery Teenager, 4th Suspect Identified

Alabama News Updated: Lesley Pantaleon/Source: CrimeStoppers A Montgomery judge has dropped one of the charges against three teenagers accused of kidnapping and killing a another teenage girl last year. Circuit Court Judge Monet Gaines dismissed the charge of Capital Murder during Robbery against Tyeshia Whisenant, Erin Taylor, and Ta’Niya Merriweather. Judge Gaines said in an order that there wasn’t enough sufficient evidence to substantiate the charge of Capital Murder due to robbery. However, Judge Gaines upheld the charge of Capital Murder-Kidnapping against the three suspects. A fourth teenage suspect has been identified in the case. Damon Lewis with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to Alabama News Network that Keontae Davidson was also arrested in connection to the homicide.

Montgomery County charges 14 charged in gun trafficking case

More than a dozen people were arrested in connection with a multi-county gun trafficking ring, the Montgomery County District Attorney s Office said Wednesday. The DA s office said in a news release that 14 people trafficked guns in Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Berks and Lancaster counties. Authorities allege 31 guns were purchased by Quinn Whisted, 22, of Plymouth Meeting; Maliqa Jack, 25 of Pottstown; Makayla Prince, 22, of Reading; and Deborah Chappell, 61, of Pottstown. The firearms were purchased for a gun trafficking organization led by Alexander Smith, 20, of Plymouth Meeting; Daveese Smith, 22 and Tony Pearson, 40, both of Norristown; Taye Wynder, 20, Daeshaun Wynder, 22, and Jerome Wynder, 24, all of Pottstown; Tymir Allen, 22, of Philadelphia; Joseph Zummo, 26, of Bridgeport; Kristen Owens, 24, of Plymouth Meeting; and Telani Ewell, 20, of Newcastle, Delaware, according to the DA s office.

Montgomery County officials said the gun trafficking organization illegally obtained and resold 31 firearms in Montgomery, Berks, Bucks, Lancaster and Philadelphia counties. The organization also allegedly dealt in the sale of ghost guns. In total, 14 people were arrested on charges related to straw purchases of firearms and illegally transferring firearms.
