Mental Health Task Force Being Developed in Madison County
One of the biggest issues facing our nation right now is the mental health crisis. It is such a broad spectrum of issues, but one New York county is looking to improve it.
Madison County Chairman John Becker has announced that he is putting together a task force to help assist those struggling with the mental health crisis. To better understand and get to a solution, county officials are establishing a group to develop a comprehensive mental health needs assessment to determine what the priorities in the county should be.
With the establishment of this group, the hope is to develop short term, mid-range and long term goals to assist with the development of needed programs and services to aid those struggling with mental health issues. Chairman Becker says,

Illinois tops 10 million COVID shots

ALTON Illinois on Monday passes the 10 million mark for COVID-19 vaccinations.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 10,037,624 vaccines had been administered in Illinois as of midnight Monday. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 83,887 doses, with 58,709 doses reported administered in Illinois on Monday.
The Madison County Health Department on Monday lowered its figures to 166,154 total COVID-19 vaccinations, 21 fewer than reported Sunday. MCHD officials on Monday said 84,131 county residents or 31.81% of the county’s population are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
The MCHD is planning multiple COVID-19 vaccination clinics this week. Walk-ins will be accepted at the clinics, but appointments are requested for planning purposes.

The Madison County Health Department is offering more public COVID-19 vaccine clinics this week. All vaccines are free and walk ins are welcome, although scheduling an appointment is preferred for planning purposes. So far, more than 31% of Madison County residents have received the vaccine.
Vaccination clinics are planned today, Tuesday and Thursday in Collinsville; Tuesday in Godfrey; Friday in Roxana and Edwardsville; and then on Saturday in Alton and Madison. Those who are 16 and 17 can receive the Pfizer vaccine, and those 18 and older can receive any of the other COVID vaccines offered. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to their appointment.
