Woman alleges breast cancer developed due to physician s negligence

Jensen | meyerjensen.com EDWARDSVILLE A woman claims she developed breast cancer after a physician failed to conduct further testing and treatment on a benign lesion.  Christina Harris filed a complaint March 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Terry Burk, M.d., Maryville Imaging LLC, Charles Lane, M.D., General and Laparoscopic Surgical Associates PC, Michael Mandis, M.D., Michael Mandis, M.D., LLC and Anderson Hospital, alleging medical negligence.  According to Harris complaint, she had a mammogram performed at Anderson Hospital on Jan. 25, 2018, with results that showed a developing asymmetry of the right breast and a recommendation for additional mammograms and breast ultrasound. She alleges that on Jan. 29, 2018, Burk performed a follow-up mammogram which showed an 8mm irregular hypoechoic mass on the right breast. Man allegedly struck by car after exiting bus

Fluhr EDWARDSVILLE A motorist who allegedly struck a man after exiting a transit bus in Madison County is accused of negligence.  Ralster Cole filed a complaint March 9 in the Madison County Circuit Court against George Singleton.  Cole alleges in his suit that around 5 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2019, he was exiting a transit bus at the bus stop near Highway 111 and Gateway Commerce Center Drive. He claims that he looked both ways as he tried to cross Gateway Commerce Center Drive when Singleton, who was driving his vehicle and turning left from Highway111, struck him.  As a result, Cole alleges he suffered extensive bodily harm, including a fractured leg and injuries to his chest, pelvis, abdomen, buttocks, hip, legs, joints, muscles, nerves, tissues and membranes, as well as sprains, bruises and was left stiff, swollen, numb. He also claims he suffers from limited motion. 

Suit alleges landlord failed to ground electrical outlets, causing boy to be shocked

Keith Short | siltrial.com EDWARDSVILLE A mother claims her son was shocked while using an electric grill, which then fell on him, because their landlord allegedly failed to make sure the electrical outlets in their rental unit were properly grounded.  Heather Cook, as mother and next of friend of Hunter Allen, a minor, filed a complaint March 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Matthew Newton and Bass Pro LLC, doing business as Cabela s, alleging negligence.  According to the complaint, on July 9, 2020, Hunter Allen was opening an electric grill that was plugged into a kitchen outlet at the premises they were renting when he suffered an electrical shock and fell to the ground. The plaintiffs claim the grill was pulled down and fell on top of Allen. They allege Allen suffered injuries to his hand, wrist, arm and entire body. He also allegedly suffered anxiety. 

Fire departments sue Bethalto property owner for failing to maintain property prior to fatal fire

Ringering EDWARDSVILLE The fire departments that responded to a Bethalto fire where Capt. Jake Ringering died when a wall collapsed are suing the homeowner for failing to maintain the property or warn the firefighters of the home s unsafe condition.  Village of Fosterburg, Godfrey Fire Protection District, Village of Bethalto, as statutory subrogees of Ringering, Brian Buhs, Alexander Ocepek, Luke Warner, Christopher Stratton and John Holtorf, filed a complaint  March 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Roland Bland Living Trust and Roland Bland, alleging negligence and wrongful death.   According to the complaint, Bland owned and maintained a property located at 4064 Culp Lane in Bethalto.
