Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Palakkad Assembly constituency, Metroman E Sreedharan on Tuesday said his party will for sure put an impressive show in the Kerala Assembly Elections adding that he will win from Palakkad with a big margin. After casting vote at a polling booth in Ponnani, E Sreedharan said, BJP will have an impressive show this time, there is no doubt about it. I will win from the Palakkad constituency with a big margin. My entry into BJP has given a different image to the party. Sreedharan is contesting against sitting MLA Shafi Parambil of Congress and CP Pramod of CPI-M.Sreedharan, the architect of the metro rail system in the country, joining the BJP was a much-celebrated event among the BJP lovers in and out of the state. BJP hopes to get the benefit from their undeclared Chief Minister face, Sreedharan s candidature throughout the state.
Metal stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 198.67 points or 1.3% at 15471.26 at 09:49 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.88%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 2.84%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 2.6%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 1.54%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.03%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 0.91%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.81%), Vedanta Ltd (up 0.15%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.08%).
At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 333.45 or 0.68% at 49492.77.
The Nifty 50 index was up 104.5 points or 0.71% at 14742.3.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 181.11 points or 0.87% at 21026.1.

Several Uttar Pradesh Police personnel reached Punjab s Rupnagar district on Tuesday to bring back jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who faces trial in several cases in the state, officials said. Around seven vehicles of the Uttar Pradesh Police reached the Rupnagar Police Lines around 4:30 am, they said. The Police Lines is around four kilometres away from the Rupnagar jail, where Ansari has been lodged since January 2019 in connection with an extortion case. Punjab s home department in a letter had asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take custody of Ansari from the Rupnagar jail on or before April 8. It had written to the Uttar Pradesh additional chief secretary (home) following a March 26 Supreme Court order that had directed the Punjab government to transfer Ansari to UP s Banda jail in two weeks from the Rupnagar prison.
Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) added 1.79% to Rs 389.45 after the company posted its highest ever production and sales figure for FY21.JSPL ended the fiscal year on a strong note with sales hitting a new record of 786,000 tonnes in FY 2021, up 61% year on year. JSPL said that combination of robust domestic demand, attractive export markets (accounting for 38% of sales) and wide range of products have all contributed to JSPL reporting the steepest rise in monthly sales in FY21.
The steel maker said it production has comfortably crossed the 2 million tonnes mark for the first time. JSPL reported a 34.4% jump in production to 2.07 million tonnes in Q4 March 2021 from 1.54 million tonne reported in Q4 March 2020. The company s production in March 2021 rose 21% YoY to 730,000 tonnes.
