Maharashtra: NCP veteran and Pawar loyalist Dilip Patil gets Home Ministry

Senior NCP leaderDilip Walse Patil was on Monday given the charge of Maharashtra Home department following the resignation of Anil Deshmukh. Earlier in the day, Deshmukh resigned as the home minister after the Bombay High Court ordered a preliminary inquiry by the CBI into allegations of extortion raised against him by former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has forwarded the resignation letter of Anil Deshmukh to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari with a request that it may be accepted, the CMO said in a statement. Goa Carbon rises after Bilaspur unit resumes operations

Goa Carbon rose 1.86% to Rs 306.60 after the company announced that its Bilaspur unit resumed operations from 3 April 2021.In February 2021, Goa Carbon had temporarily shut down the Bilaspur unit for maintenance work. Goa Carbon is engaged in the manufacture and sale of calcined petroleum coke. The firm is a supplier to aluminum smelters, graphite electrode and titanium dioxide manufacturers, as well as other users in the metallurgical and chemical industries. The company reported net loss of Rs 1.31 crore in the quarter ended December 2020 as against net loss of Rs 4.12 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2019. Sales declined 24.03% to Rs 81.20 crore in Q3 FY21 over Q3 FY20.

IndusInd Bank total deposits rise 27% YoY

The private lender on Monday announced that its deposits increased by 27% to Rs 2,56,158 crore as of 31 March 2021 from Rs 2,02,040 crore as on 31 March 2020.Sequentially, deposits grew 7% as of 31 March 2021 compared with Rs 2,39,584 crore as on 31 December 2020. Retail deposits and deposits from small business customers amounted to Rs 95,811 crore as of 31 March 2021 as compared to Rs 85,914 crore as of 31 December 2020. The bank s net advances increased by 3% to Rs 2,13,049 crore as of 31 March 2021 from Rs 2,06,783 crore recorded in 31 March 2020. Sequentially, the bank s net advances grew by 3% as of 31 March 2021 from Rs 2,07,128 crore on 31 December 2020. CASA ratio improved to 41.8% as on 31 March 2021 compared with 40.5% as on 31 December 2020 and 40.4% as on 31 March 2020.

Day after record spike, Mumbai Covid-19 tally down to 9,857

A day after recording more than 11,000 COVID-19 cases in a day - the highest so far - Mumbai reported less than 10,000 infections at 9,857 on Monday, while 21 more patients died due to the disease, the city civic body said. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation s (BMC) updated data, 9,857 new cases took the tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,62,302, while the death toll jumped to 11,797. On Sunday, the city had witnessed the highest-ever 11,163 new COVID-19 cases. The number of fatalities also went down to 21 from 25 on Sunday. According to the BMC, 3,357 more people were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the number of recovered patients to 3,74,985.
