MNS asks its workers to support Maharashtra s decisions on Covid-19

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Sunday asked the party workers to support the decisions that will be taken by the government to tackle the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the state. The statement from the party comes after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray called up MNS president Raj Thackeray and sought his cooperation if the government was compelled to impose a lockdown to curb the spread of the virus. Please cooperate with the government agencies and follow all the directives of the government, the party said in a tweet. It also mentioned that the chief Minister spoke to Raj Thackeray over phone.

Bodies of 17 jawans recovered at encounter site, death toll rises to 22

The number of security personnel killed in the encounter has gone up to 22, police said. Eighteen jawans were missing after five security personnel were killed and 30 others injured on Saturday in the fierce gun-battle with Naxals in a forest along the border between Bijapur and Sukma districts in Chhattisgarh, police earlier said. On Sunday, bodies of 17 missing personnel were recovered during a search operation. With this, total 22 personnel have been killed in the gunfight, a senior police official said. The bodies of three jawans who were reported killed on Saturday were also recovered, he said, adding that the search operation was still on in the forest.

Take custody of MLA Mukhtar Ansari by April 8, Punjab tells UP govt

Punjab s home department has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take custody of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari from Rupnagar jail by April 8. Ansari, who is wanted in various cases in Uttar Pradesh, has been lodged in Rupnagar district jail in connection with an alleged extortion case since January 2019. In a letter to the Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home), the home department of Punjab asked for suitable arrangements to be made for the transfer of undertrial prisoner Ansari. The said handover is to be made at district jail Rupnagar on/before April 8, the letter stated. Ansari suffers from certain medical conditions and the same may be kept in mind while making arrangements for his transport from Rupnagar jail to Banda jail in UP, it said.

Schools closed in J&K after Covid resurgence | Business Standard News

In view of the increasing numbers of new Covid-19 cases, authorities in J&K on Sunday ordered closure of all schools from Monday onwards. An order issued by the Disaster Management Authority on Sunday said that classes upto Class 9 would remain closed for two weeks from Monday while Class 10 to 12 will remain closed for one week. The numbers of those reporting positive is increasing in J&K with each passing day. Officials said 573 tested positive on Sunday, comprising 122 from the Jammu division and 451 from the Kashmir division, while three more patients succumbed, taking the toll to 2,008. So far, 133,012 people have been infected with coronavirus in J&K, out of which 127,049 have recovered. The number of active cases stands at 3,955, out of which 922 are from the Jammu division and 3,033 from the Kashmir division.
