Manning Regional Healthcare Center has welcomed a new Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to their staff. Samantha Quelland will be initially covering for Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C), Courtney Rupiper who is on maternity leave, and then will fill the opening that will occur when ARNP, Hope Jensen, leaves the Family Practice Clinic. Quelland says her career started from the relationships she built as a CNA in a nursing home. “As I progressed in my career as a nurse, working in the OR, I really missed having those patient relationships. It was then I decided to continue on to become a family nurse practitioner. This position allows me to get to know my patients and take care of them throughout their life,” she says. Quelland, who is originally from Van Meter had been residing in Des Moines prior to her move to Manning. According to a recent Iowa Hospital Association report for 2019, Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) has provided nearly $5 million in direct payroll income and $7.3 million in indirect impact on the local economy. This includes nearly $3.5 million in retail sales and $207,500 in sales tax. MRHC also offers a variety of community education events, trainings and clinics, such as CPR and AED training, blood drives, wellness and blood pressure clinics, concussion testing at the high school, walk-in flu shot clinics, Kid’s Health and Safety Fairs, Senior Fun Day, Women Supporting Women and Medicare Enrollment. “We are proud to share that in the past year we provided nearly $40,000 in donations and community health improvement services to benefit our local communities,” says CEO, Linn Block. The Manning Pharmacy and Manning Regional Healthcare Center have received an allocation of the Johnson and Johnson, single-dose vaccine and will be hosting a vaccination clinic on Tuesday, April 13. This will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kerkhoff Family Shelter House in Trestle Park. Pre-registration is required and can be done by following the link included below. There is no charge for the vaccine itself, but there is an administration fee that is covered by insurance. All participants will need to bring with them a photo ID and their insurance, Medicare or Medicaid card. Recipients of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine must be 18 years or older.
