DC Kathua distributes hygiene kits, warm clothes among Nari Niketan inmates

Share Kathua: Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Kathua, Om Prakash (Deputy Commissioner) today distributed hygiene kits, warm clothes and masks among the inmates of Nari Niketan here today. Executive Secretary IRCS Kathua, Om Parkash Sharma; Superintendent Nari Niketan, Neelam Rani; District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Rahim; DIO Parshotam Dass; TSWO Vishav Sharma; YRC/JRC Coordinator, Er. Vivek Sharma; Executive Committee Member, Khem Raj Sharma; Red Cross Assistant, Puran Parshad Sharma and Volunteers of Red Cross Kathua were present on the occasion. While interacting with staff and the inmates, the DC assured that arrangements for a tutor, besides provision of beautification training and a computer for the inmates will be made by district administration at the earliest. He directed superintendent to motivate the inmates to pursue skill trainings in different trades so that they can become self reliant.

Moorthy Marathon taken out to highlight women’s issues A marathon was organised by the District Level Centre for Women here on Sunday to highlight the issues faced by women and create an awareness of the institutions that provide help for the women in distress. B. Vinodha, District Women Welfare Officer, said the marathon was organised to mark the anniversary of the Nirbhaya gang rape of December 16. Members of various non-governmental organisations, school and college students participated in the marathon. Starting from the Collectorate, the marathon coursed through KK Nagar and returned to the Collectorate.
