Priest Sentenced to Prison Following Abuse PleaContact: Lynsey Mukomel 517-599-2746Agency: Attorney General May 27, 2021 LANSING - An Ontonagon County judge handed down the harshest prison sentence yet in the Michigan Attorney General s clergy abuse investigation.  Last month, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced a plea agreement with Gary Jacobs, a former priest in the Upper Peninsula who faced cases in both Ontonagon and Dickinson Counties. The plea hearing in Dickinson County happened earlier this month.  The Ontonagon sentencing, which happened before Circuit Court Judge Michael Pope earlier this week, involves guilty pleas on three counts of criminal sexual conduct 1st degree and one count of criminal sexual conduct 2nd degree.

AG Nessel joins FTC lawsuit against Frontier Communications for misrepresenting internet speeds By Will Kriss May 20, 2021 | 2:57 AM LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) –  Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has signed on to a lawsuit initiated by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against  Internet service provider Frontier Communications. The lawsuit alleges that the company did not provide many consumers with Internet service at the speeds it promised them, and charged many of them for more expensive and higher-speed service than the company actually provided. In a complaint, the FTC and its six state—including Michigan—partners allege that Frontier advertised and sold Internet service in several plans, or tiers, based on download speed.
