Maria Gallo, the president of Delaware Valley University in Pennsylvania, will serve as the next chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
The UW System Board of Regents unanimously approved Gallo s appointment Tuesday. She will start July 15 and earn $268,200.
Gallo has been the president of Delaware Valley University since 2016. While in that role, the university announced its first endowed professorship, saw an increase in its student retention rates and expanded its hydroponics and aquaponics program.
She is also a Fulbright Scholar and a fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America.
UW Regent Scott Beightol, who chaired the committee that conducted the search and screen process, said Gallo s experience stood out as extraordinarily impressive.

The ceremony was held at Missouri Southern State University to ensure social distancing.
Some procedures were modified such as mask wearing and limiting guest size.
During the pandemic the school transitioned to online learning for a bit, but students were able to receive hands on learning and prepare for the workforce, and were able to celebrate their hard work in person this weekend.
“So we were so blessed today that for the first graduation in Joplin we were able to get together as a community,” said Laura Rosch, Dean of Kansas City University’s Joplin campus.
