55-year-old man dies at construction site in Newton after wall collapsed on him, authorities say Updated May 06, 2021; A 55-year-old man died Thursday while working at a construction site at Winchester Street in Newton, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office. Authorities said the man had been working in the foundation of a residence when a wall collapsed and pinned him to the ground. The man was pronounced dead on the scene, authorities said. Newton police notified the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office about the fatal incident at 8 a.m. on Thursday, officials said.

Wicked Local A 55-year-old man who was working in the foundation of a Newton home on Thursday, died after a concrete wall collapsed on top of him, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office. Billerica resident Russell J. Harron died while working at 315 Winchester St. Speaking in front of the home, Newton Fire Chief Gino Lucchetti said the incident, which began at 8 a.m., “started off as a rescue operation … and it turned into a recovery operation.” Asked how the firefighters were doing after such a traumatic incident, the chief responded it’s “very difficult … emotional.”
