Justice Katju s expert opinion is less than objective: UK Court on Nirav Modi s Extradition
The UK Westminster Court said that Justice Katju had deposed before it as an expert witness for Nirav Modi, opposing the Government of India’s plea for extradition on the ground that he was unlikely to receive a “free and fair trial in India”.

LONDON: Even as the UK s West Minister s Magistrate Court on Thursday cleared the decks for the extradition of fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi in connection with the Rs 13,500 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case, District Judge Samuel Gooze came down heavily on former Supreme Court Judge Markandey Katju, saying Gooze attached little weight to Katju s expert opinion as it was less than objective and reliable .
Meghalaya Govt Reduces VAT on Liquor & Wines
Meghalaya government announced that the cabinet has decided to reduce the VAT on different brands of liquor and wines in Meghalaya from 40% to 37.5%.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Cabinet has decided to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) on different brands of liquor and wines in Meghalaya from 40% to 37.5%.
The lifting charges have also been reverted to Rs.2 as previously implemented prior to May 2020.
The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting held on Friday.
In a tweet, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma wrote, Cabinet has decided to reduce the VAT on different brands of liquor and wines in #Meghalaya from 40% to 37.5%. The lifting charges have also been reverted to Rs.2 as previously implemented prior to May 2020.
The findings, in a genetic-based study, indicate that long-term, heavy coffee consumption six or more cups a day can increase the amount of lipids (fats) in your blood to significantly heighten.

COVID-19 Tests in Assam Airports: COVID-19 screening and testing will continue in all airports of the State, stated an order issued by the Principal Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department Samir Kumar Sinha on Friday.
The Health department had earlier issued an order discontinuing mandatory COVID-19 testing at airports, railway stations and land routes from March 1, 2021. But the Friday s fresh order has been issued in view of gradual increase in the incidence of COVID-positive cases in a few other States.
